The Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Tulsa SPCA), founded in 1913, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving animal welfare by providing rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and community education services in the greater Tulsa area.
PET CARE SPECIALIST
Under the direction of the Pet Care Supervisor the Pet Care Specialist will ensure a clean, healthy, and safe environment for animals in the care, custody, and control of the Tulsa SPCA. Will train, socialize, and care for pets as assigned.
Primary job responsibilities include but are not limited to: daily cleaning and disinfecting of cages, runs, kennels, yards, and general cleaning duties associated with the TSPCA facility. Feeding, watering, medicating, training and socializing, and care of all animals assigned. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills at all times to public/their pets/ and pets in waiting; must be polite and professional, knowledgeable about animals in the facility, and be available when called upon to show animals to public. Any other job related duties and responsibilities relating to the management and wellbeing of the shelter animals as assigned.
Qualifications: Strong interest in and commitment to animal welfare and to providing a physically and mentally healthy environment for shelter animals, providing quality care with respect and dignity to the animals at all times. Must have the ability to restrain and handle a variety of animals under different circumstances. Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills are required. Must be organized, decisive, flexible and adaptable to a fast paced environment. Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Excellent oral and written communications and team oriented skills a must. Knowledge of basic computer skills desirable. Availability to work a varied schedule and shift changes required, weekends, some holidays, and overtime.
Starting pay and work week: $7.25/hr., 40 hours/week.
