If you are looking for a pet, we recommend that you come to the Tulsa SPCA to meet our many wonderful animals or check our MAC schedule of appearances to meet the pets who are aboard. (Remember that our space is limited on the MAC, so you may want to also visit the shelter.)
Our adoption counselors are prepared to discuss with you what fits your personality and lifestyle and will help you meet the pets we have on site who will match best with you. You can meet your future new companion, walk together, get acquainted.
If you decide to adopt a pet from us, you will be asked to complete an adoption application and be interviewed by one of our adoption staff to help make sure that you and the pet will make a good match.
We want all members of a family to meet your new pet. And, if you are adopting an additional dog, we request that you bring your other dog(s) to our shelter to meet his or her new friend. We call this “friend testing” in a neutral setting to be sure the dogs will get along well.
All of our pets receive a final check-up by our staff veterinarian before going home with you.
We send you home with helpful information on caring for your pet, a starter kit including the same food the dog or cat has been eating while with us, a DVD with some great tips on training your adopted dog of all ages (such as crate and house training, chewing, manners, etc.), and recommendations regarding the veterinary care your new family member will need.
