Clinic Receptionist (Part Time)

Status:            $13.33/hour, non-exempt, 20 hours, Monday through Friday varying hours, some evenings and/or weekends may be required

 

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Clinic Manager, employee is responsible for assisting clients in the clinic and on the phone. Other responsibilities include clerical duties, patient check in/check out, and data entry

 

Primary Tasks and Duties

  • Greet and assist all incoming clinic clients in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Answer and return all phone calls in a prompt fashion
  • Schedule and confirm appointments for spay/neuter surgery and other clinic services
  • Check in and check out patients, including taking payments, providing invoices, post-op instructions, etc.
  • Enter all client information into Clinic HQ, accurately recording patient and visit details
  • Perform any routine front office duties that are required throughout the day including but not limited to delivering messages, restocking, filing medical charts, etc.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area. Responsible areas include front lobby and reception desk.
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions / Key Competencies / Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at a professional level
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving history
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Proof of employment eligibility
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as be a team player
  • Provide excellent customer service and have a caring attitude for humans and animals
  • Ability to communicate with the public and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Must possess at minimum an intermediate knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Clinic HQ preferred but not required
  • Must be flexible and be available for a varied schedule

Position Requirements:

  • Physical Environment
    • Work is both indoors and outside and can be exposed to heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, and a variety of conditions including humidity and dust.
    • Travel to area events/locations in year-round weather conditions is possible.
    • Use of computer, keyboard, telephone, copy machines, and fax machines.
    • Will be exposed to animal smells, fumes, chemicals, cleaning supplies, airborne particles, parasites, pests, zoonotic diseases and sharp objects.
    • Will work with and be exposed to a variety of animals (some may be sick, injured and/or agitated) and animal waste.
    • Animal bites and/or scratches are possible.
    • Must be able to lift (to waist height) and carry 50 lbs.
    • Repetitive movements such as bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, standing, and other similar activities are required.
    • Ability to hear, talk, use hand dexterity required. Additionally, specific visual abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus is required.
    • Noise level is moderate to high.
