Tulsa SPCA Statement on Beagle Rescue
August 2, 2022Things to Keep in Mind after You Adopt
November 22, 2022
In 2021, the Tulsa SPCA expanded its low-cost clinic services to assist the general public with pet healthcare, as well as other rescue organizations who need assistance preparing their dogs and cats for successful adoptions.
Dental care is one such service. Eighty percent of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of periodontal disease by the age of three years old, and this will only worsen if effective preventive measures aren’t taken. Preventive care can help protect pets and catch problems before they become more serious.
Routine dental cleanings are important to a pet’s health. Not only is prevention the better way to go for your pet’s well-being, it is also much more cost effective in the long run.
Tulsa SPCA Veterinarian Dr. Cristen Thomas says, “Left untreated, dental disease isn’t just bad for your pet’s teeth; it can actually damage internal organs, including the heart, liver and kidneys. That’s why regular dental exams are so important.”
Other new services provided by the Tulsa SPCA clinic include orthopedic surgeries (fracture repairs, amputations, ACL repairs), mass removals, cherry eye repairs and more. We are proud to provide all our low-cost clinic services to pet owners in Northeastern Oklahoma.
