In the 2007 Tulsa SPCA Newsletter, a story was written about Owen, a man who adopted three homeless puppies. He named them Love, Faith and Happy. Owen recently wrote a letter to the Tulsa SPCA giving us an update on his four-legged family.

Hi you beautiful, caring folks from Tulsa!

I am the person, Owen, whom, with all your help, rescued “The 3 Dingos” (Love, Faith, and Happy). The article “Homeless Pups from Homeless Man” tells the story of our 3 babies and the rescue adventure!

I have some great news as well as some very sad news I wanted to share with you.

Great News: Happy (formerly Jacob), Love (formerly Faye), and Faith (formerly Layla) had 9 incredible years together, and always together for all 9 years.

I’ve attached pictures for you below. The brother (Happy) and his two sisters (Love and Faith) growing up and growing old together.

They are/were always inseparable and they are the most amazing gifts of my life.

The Sad News: Love (aka Faye) recently passed away (Mast Cell Cancer). She was the first one I rescued and she was puppy “Love” at first sight!! My family and I miss her so much. Happy and Faith don’t know what to do without her.

I wanted to write you because I’ll never forget the amazing, wonderful, beautiful hearts and people I met at the Tulsa SPCA. People who helped me overcome impossible odds to not only save 3 amazing dogs/puppies, but to raise them as siblings, never once separated and never once ever knowing any hurt, pain, sickness, or sadness.

Love was so healthy her entire life, I thought she’d live forever. It was such a shock to find out Love had something wrong in her stomach, every year we tested any and ever bump or lump she ever had just as a precaution; everything always came back benign. One day she was very sick and it was so sudden and so abnormal for her. We took her to get a check up, they took x-rays of her lungs and an ultrasound of her stomach, it was in her stomach that they saw/found the cancer.

No one would have ever known she was sick, she had regular vet visits and always got a clean bill of health. I just miss her so much and I know her brother (Happy) and sister (Faith), who remain very healthy as far as our vet and we can tell, her brother and sister miss Love so much.

I wanted to reach out. We’ll all be okay and we’ll get through this. But I will never forget the Tulsa SPCA and the kind, beautiful people that helped me save 3 beautiful lives and gave me 9 years of joy.

Thank you so much everyone. It’s times like these where you hope and pray there’s a Heaven waiting for all of us and that Love and all pets are all there with us too!!

God bless you all and thank you.

With love and kindness, affection and appreciation,

Owen
