The Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Tulsa SPCA), a 501(c)(3) agency, is looking for a part-time bookkeeper to record deposits, invoices, payroll, and other tasks as necessary.

This is an hourly position with the rate starting at $15.00 per hour. This is a 20 hour position and the work must be performed on-site. The Tulsa SPCA offers benefits to employees working more than 1040 hours a year, including: medical, dental, vision and 401(k).

Job Description:

The part-time bookkeeper reports directly to the Administrative Assistant. This role is responsible for the day-to-day financial processing for the organization. The position is based in Tulsa, OK.



· Daily processing of donations (checks) including:

o Posting deposits to the applicable revenue account in QuickBooks.*

o Verification the financial system deposit matches the bank deposit.

· Daily processing of donations (credit cards) including:

o Retrieving reports on credit card donations from multiple sources.

o Reconcile credit card deposits at Bok with the credit card reports.

o Posting deposits to the applicable revenue account in QuickBooks.*

o Verification the financial system deposit matches the credit card processor deposit.

· Create donor thank you letter/tax receipt/acknowledgment daily for the Executive Director to sign.

· By the 5th working day, reconcile deposits on BOK statements with QB.

* After donor software is acquired, this task will be recorded in the new software and transferred into QuickBooks.


· At least twice a week, record approved invoices to appropriate expense account in QuickBooks.

· Print checks and attach to original approved invoice for the Executive Director to sign.

· Prepare checks for mailing.


· Every other week, record payroll entry in QuickBooks.


· File donation letters and invoices in accordance with Record Retention policy.

· Other entries and/or projects associated with daily work assignments.

· Assist in gathering information requested for our annual external audit.

· Adhere to Accounting-related policies.


· Bachelor’s degree preferred

· Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, preferred.

· Proven organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage a high volume of work, prioritize effectively to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail.

· High proficiency in Quickbooks.

· Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills; comfortable communicating with all levels of internal staff.

· Innovative, creative and adaptable.

· Committed to the Tulsa SPCA mission.

· Must exhibit strong customer service skills; along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Experience and knowledgeable with Windows based PC’s and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

· Flexible and adaptable to fast paced environments, and stressful situations.

· Multi-tasker and self-starter, ability to learn quickly.

· Respect and passion for animals.
